Special North Carolina Profiles

BELL BELL WALSER HALL

Dick Bell - the "dean" of Triangle landscape architecture, with a legacy of beloved projects such as Pullen Park, the NCSU Brickyard, and Meredith College Amphitheatre -- plus his famous Water Garden.

Bryan Bell - the Triangle's passionate national advocate for architecture for the "98% without architects." His nonprofit organization, DesignCorps, connects architecture and planning graduates to rural low-income communities.

Frank Walser - the gifted contractor who built many of the Triangle's Modernist houses from the 1950's through the 1970's.  Many times he "saved the bacon" of client architects through translating unrealistic plans into load-bearing, practical realities.

Richard Hall - the unusual conversion of a former Raleigh Seventh Day Adventist Church to a private residence.

Triangle Shelters - the ultimate in bringing the outside in - because you are already outside.

Our detailed content is America's most extensive -- which is why devoted modernist-oriented visitors return again and again.
