LOUIS WALTER CHERRY, FAIA (1953-)

Louis Cherry attended Fork Union Military Academy, graduating in 1971.  He attended Duke University for two years then got a BFA from East Carolina University in 1977.  In 1978, he was a general contractor for passive solar homes in Greenville.  Cherry received his Masters of Architecture from the NCSU College of Design in 1983.  After working for Design Dimensions from 1981-1984, he moved to Hager Smith Huffman where he became a partner.  

In 1992, Cherry founded Cherry Huffman Architects with Dan Huffman.  He started the much-loved (but now gone) restaurant Enoteca Vin on Glenwood Avenue.  He and wife Ann Marie Baum also own a modern design furnishings business.  In 2011, the firm merged with RATIO Architects Inc. of Indianapolis IN. Huffman left to start an independent practice.


 

2005 - The Allen and Marianne Mebane Residence Expansion, 828 Woodward Road, Mocksville, NC.  The new expansion, large enough to be a home all by itself, was designed to showcase the owner's art collection and lakeviews.  Bottom four photos by James West.  Was for sale in 2011.


  

2006 - The Amy Ball Residence, 3405 Cherry Lane, Raleigh.  Extensive renovation and addition to a 1960's ranch house, bottom photo.  Other photos by James West.  Construction by Maplewood Building Company.
