LUCY CAROL DAVIS, AIA (1950-)

Davis grew up in Charlotte.  She attended the NC School of the Arts the first three years it was open and graduated in Music in 1968, followed by a BA in Music and Philosophy from Swarthmore College and a Masters in Architecture from the University of Oregon.  During 1973 she attended the University of Auckland and received the government's Queen Elizabeth II Prize in Architecture, a historical preservation award. Early in her career, she worked for Carrboro's Designworks (with Dail Dixon, Giles Blunden, Knox Tate, Bob Giddings, and Walker Hagans) in Carrboro and was one of the founders of Space Builders. also in Carrboro.  She has been Principal of LCDA Architecture since 1983 and President of Davis, Davis, and Davis Construction, owned with her dad and her brother. She was featured in a "Dreams and Creativity” story on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 in August 2005.

1980 - The David Auerbach House, 405 Canal Street, Raleigh.  Has concrete floors. Sold in 1986 to David and Janna Barnes.  Sold in 1989 to current owners Leslie and Mary Thornbury.

 

1988 - The H. C. and Sharon Pace Vacation Cabin, Smith Mountain Lake, VA.  Sold when the Paces moved to Colorado. Uses pressure treated posts filled with concrete.  800 square feet.

1991 - The Richard and Barbara Stewart Residence, 7601 Talbryn Way, Chapel Hill.  5800 square feet. Davis also built it.  Sold in 2007 to current owners John and Kathleen Linger.  Featured on the CNN clip. 

1994 - The Alvin Priess Residence, 500 North Boundary Street, Chapel Hill.

1999 - The Mark Ewing/Lisa Lee Residence, 221 High Hickory Road, Chapel Hill. 
3000 square feet.  Also built by Davis. Sold to current owner Alex Tolstykh in 2002.
