ROCIO ROMERO (1972-)

Rocio Romero received a Bachelors of Architecture from UC-Berkeley in 1993 and a Masters of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture in 1999.   Before starting her own design firm Rocio Romero LLC in Perryvile MO in 2001, she worked for Guthrie + Buresh, Eric Rosen, Matias Klotz, and Space International.

Romero's LV series are modern kit homes that are affordable, easily built, and highly customizable.  Her kits contain the exterior shell and can be delivered anywhere in the United States.  The LV series uses traditional construction materials and techniques, so any General Contractor can build it.  In contrast to prefab, where major pieces are factory-assembled, this is a gigantic erector set. She has sold 68 homes in 26 states. Her biography lists a staggering amount of media articles reflecting a tremendous national interest in her work.  Her website, which in contrast to many design firms is navigable, contains extensive detail on each model.

Now here are the best PR shots of an architect I've ever seen. Frank DiPiazza took the photos, brilliant juxtapositions of fruit, flowers, furniture, Kennedy, and Nixon around Rocio Romero and her husband.

The LV is an 1150 sq. ft home that is 25'-1” x 49'-1” and has a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and closets.  The LV home starts at about $36000.

The LVL is an 1453 sq. ft home that is 25'-1” x 59'-6” and has a living room, dining room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and closets.  The LVL home starts at about $42000.

The LVM is a 625 sq. ft. sq. ft studio that is 25'-1” x 25'-1”.  It can be used as a studio/office space or small guesthouse with one bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen, and living/dining area.  The LVM home starts at about $24000.  Two possible configurations shown above:  Guesthouse left, Studio right.

The LV2 is a two story add-on that allows you to stack LV Series (LVS) units.  You can stack any LVS unit on top of any other to create your own custom home.
